Route optimization helps you plan your team’s day more efficiently by arranging anytime visits in the best possible order. Instead of manually deciding which appointment should happen first, Fieldified can reorder visits to reduce backtracking and make better use of travel time.
Overview
Use route optimization when:
- A team member has multiple anytime visits.
- A dispatcher needs to reduce travel time.
- The day changes and routes need to be rebuilt.
- Seasonal work needs to be organized quickly.
- A map view would make the schedule easier to review.
Route optimization is done from the Fieldified schedule and reflected on the team’s schedule after saving.
What changes with route optimization
Route optimization works directly from the current schedule. It uses the selected anytime visits and current appointment details rather than relying on a separate fixed route list.
This means you can:
- Optimize routes for one team member, a group, or the whole team.
- Re-run optimization when work changes.
- Choose start and end points.
- Review the route on a map.
- Keep dispatch decisions tied to the latest schedule.
Optimize from day view
- Open Schedule.
- Switch to Day view.
- Use vertical day view.
- Review anytime visits.
- Select the optimize option.
- Choose the date and team members.
- Choose whether to keep the first or last appointment fixed.
- Run optimization.
- Review the updated order and map before final dispatch.
Only anytime visits are optimized as part of the route. Scheduled visits with fixed times remain anchored to their time.
Optimize from week view
Use Week view when you need to optimize multiple days together. Select the date range, team members, and route preferences, then review the updated order for each day.
Set start and end points
Start and end points help Fieldified preserve important route anchors.
Use this when:
- A team member must start near a specific property.
- A final appointment must remain last.
- A crew needs to end near the shop, yard, or next assignment.
- A client has a strict time window.
Add the map
Open the map panel to see appointments as pins and route lines. Use the map to review property clusters, drive direction, and whether any appointment looks out of place.
Reschedule and reassign appointments
After reviewing the route, use schedule tools to:
- Move visits to a new date.
- Reassign visits to another team member.
- Move work back to unscheduled.
- Send rescheduling notifications when clients should be informed.
