How Referral Links Appear in the Client Portal

Enable client referrals, choose the destination form, customize the sharing message, and track referred requests.

Referral flow overview

Portal referrals give existing clients a simple way to share your business with people in their network.

The client opens Refer a Friend, chooses a sharing method, and sends a link to your default request or booking form. When the referred person submits the form, Fieldified can associate the request with the client who shared it.

Prepare the destination form

Before enabling referrals:

  1. Open request and booking settings.
  2. Identify the default public form.
  3. Confirm it is enabled for sharing.
  4. Test the form without signing in.
  5. Review required fields, service options, and confirmation text.

When multiple forms exist, the portal referral action uses the form designated as the default. Keep that form suitable for general referral traffic.

Enable portal referrals

  1. Open Client Hub Settings.
  2. Find referral settings.
  3. Enable Clients Can Refer a Friend.
  4. Confirm the destination form.
  5. Save.

The portal can then add a referral action to navigation and other eligible prompts, such as the invoice experience.

Customize the sharing message

  1. In referral settings, select Edit Template.
  2. Write the suggested message.
  3. Explain what the referred person can request.
  4. Keep the message short enough for email and mobile sharing.
  5. Save.

Clients can edit the suggested text before sending it.

Example:

I have worked with [Business name] and thought you might find their services
helpful. You can use this link to tell them what you need and request a follow-up.

Do not write the template as though the business itself is sending the personal recommendation.

What the client sees

Selecting Refer a Friend opens the available sharing options and the default form link.

Options differ by device and operating system. They can include:

  • Email
  • Text message
  • Installed messaging apps
  • Copy link
  • Native device sharing

The client chooses a method, reviews the message, and sends it.

Track referred work

When a referred person submits the form:

  1. Open the new request.
  2. Find the referral or source field.
  3. Open the linked referring client.
  4. Continue qualification and scheduling.
  5. Record any thank-you or reward action.

Use referral attribution to measure:

  • Referred requests
  • Qualified leads
  • Converted jobs
  • Revenue
  • Rewards or acknowledgments

Define how duplicate submissions, self-referrals, and existing clients are handled before launching an incentive.

Test the complete referral path

  1. Enable referrals.
  2. Confirm the default form is public.
  3. Enter the portal as a test client.
  4. Open Refer a Friend.
  5. Share the link to a test address.
  6. Open it in a private browser session.
  7. Submit a test request.
  8. Verify the referring client is recorded.
  9. Remove or label the test data.

Repeat on desktop and mobile because share options vary by device.
